Yes Tom I have. Thanks for the suggestion though. The AFX parts are waaay better, but not good enough. The problem I found with the 15t is it doesn't catch enough of the cluster in the AW chassis and strips both. I understand what you are saying with the voltage, etc. and you are correct in that it will help. Have not tried the 19t Aurora, but I am aware of it as another option. I chose aftermarket and tried modified Wizzard Pro Predator gears, Super Tuff, and delrin....destroyed all of those along with cluster gear. Have paid close attention to gear mesh during all of this. The only thing I haven't done yet is go to an all AFX chassis ( which is next ). This is getting into tech. talk, but my only point was that I don't think the stock gears ( AW anyway ) are safe with a 3.5ohm motor even at 24 volts in a 4gear. I have also only used poly mags in my builds....NO NEOS. I cannot speak for the other chassis as I have not tried those builds yet. Like I said before, this is strictly FYI. Doesn't mean your idea needs to change at all. But if I was to enter a car in an unlimited pancake class that is allowing AFX/Xtraction and Tjet chassis, I certainly would not enter a 4gear. I would brass up and build something bulletproof.....lol. Let me add one more thing. The traction of the Eagleracing sillies is a factor in all of this too. I think I could go to a slip on and maybe get some more life out of the gears, but I really think failure would still be inevitable and E.T.'s would drop. Can't be doing that....gotta go fast. Hey Jeff! Have you been shimming the crown gear in? Makes a huuuuuge difference! And no, the AW gears WILL NOT hold up! I try to reduce pratically ALL of the lash between the crown and cluster, and its been working for me! JS

Jim....First let me say that I am sorry for your recent loss and I hope you and yours are doing o.k. Thanks for the feedback, and yes I do shim up the crown. Have tried lots of different things to give the gears more life. Some things work and some don't. Going to tear down both F.E.D.'s this winter and rebuild from the ground up. Going to use AFX chassis and plate (as I mentioned above) for one of them and see if that helps. When I beef up one part, the weak link moves. Got some new ideas I am going to try. Been a busy race season here at Nitroslots and just haven't had time. Making lots of power with those Yellowjacket motors I got from you!!

Phantom Phoams Testing Update: So far the first set of tires works really well, great traction even with out traction mags and tires seem to stay clean longer then standard silicone tires. Now the last trick is to make sure I can duplicate them and the true test is racing.

The NHRA is at zMAX Dragway which also host the 4 Wide Nationals,so I thought you might like this photo of the first 4 wide I have ever heard of and it happened at ATCO DRAGWAY.I don't know who won but Dyno Don got early lead at the tree.

Maybe some of you would like to hear my idea for a new class that I got from a real event in Texas that went down for the first time this year.Pro Mods VS Altereds this would be a new class not Doorslammers so that class would not change.Rules are unlimited pancake chassis, max of 2 poly motor mags, any brushes, any tires and any size, any gears readily available(no custom made gears),max of 2 traction mags, shunts and braids allowed, wheelie bars allowed, motor can be any custom pancake arm that is no less then "3.5OHMS",and min weight of 25 grams for all cars.Racers allowed up to choose if they run Alered or Pro Mod body when entering only 1 car,max of 2 cars per racer but must be 1 Pro Mod & 1 Altered.Race would be run at 24 volts. Even if it gets shot down here at Nitroslots it will be an event at ATCO DRAGWAY in the future and I would be willing to open it to mail in racers as well it just wouldn't be a Nitroslots points race unless it's was put on the schedule for next year. The reason I think this class is a good idea is it's a builders class with all the pancake chassis included and it seems like everyone loves Pro Mod and doesn't have a class to run their Altereds, this would solve both.I got the class rules idea from Hank's Event at Skippack. Atco Dragway is a timed 15foot AFX track with over 4foot of dynamic braking shut down.I'm using the same power supply as jjwallace (HY3010E)from 0.5 to 30 Volts with a max of 10 Amps and a Slot Dragon timing system. Track is also four lanes wide, using the outside lanes to race and gives the cars some elbow room for wide tires. Let me know if you want to race at Atco Dragway and what you think of this class idea.

I have been reading your posts about atco raceway I used to race there ran 9.30et at 143mph. But had to sell it a few year back thank god I found ho slot cars. I really enjoy it but the wife and kids get bored.so I would like to know if theres a club or location near vineland nj where I live?

I'm in need of a new camera at this time, all I have is my phone and I damaged the lens.I should have a new camera and pics up by the end of Nov 2013.As for the Phantom Phoams I have had good success with them so far but Stinger took the chassis i was using for testing and she doesn't remember what she did with the wheels & tires so I'll be starting over.

Any pics yet of the strip? I am getting amped to race your track. Did not think I was going to be able to race it, but things are looking better. That is to race, may not be able to rework cars, but cars will make the trip.
