I, absolutely, encourage drag strips of any length. I have an 18' hallway. so I built an 1/64 scale 1/8 mile distance of 10' 3.75" timed with about a foot burnout bleachbox staging area and 6' of bar stock as the shut down after the 12' powered sections of track. I have 3 additional feet of WIZZARD track that I am considering incorporating to go to a 1/64 scale 1000', measured 15' 7.5" and reduce my shut down accordingly. magnet traction cars stop instantly on the steel bar stock, 4 strips of 1/4" thick ... 1" wide ... 6" long, with a slot created between two of the strips for the guide pin. I have, in storage, a 1/64 1/4 mile that I made from original Aurora O-gauge 6" pieces and mounted to 8' boards, having removed the original rails and installed continuous rail in each of the powered 8' sections. this ancient plastic track is just as fast as all modern tracks I have run on. the only thing I have about scale quotations is, let me see how to put it gently ...... OK, lets say that 1:1 Funny Cars and Top Fuelers run a 1:1 1000 foot track and claim those ET times and MPHs as 1:1 1/4 mile results? not too cool. please, don't get me wrong. I do want to expand our interests, hobby and sport in every way I can. and the AW strips are a huge help along with the SlotDragon timing system now. just wanted to explain why I always ask folks about a 1/87 scale distance. please don't change anything that any of you are doing. perhaps I am an anal purist, but then, someone has gotta be. oh yeah, one more thing, if you mention alpink to someone and they don't approve, drop the subject. LOL thanx for your time. keep em green. alpink/draglstyltkyn

I'd have to agree that drag strips of any lengths are fine with me. The only thing that matters is that you and others that you race with are having fun. Bare minimum for me would be a foul start and win light indicator...that's all you need to have to have fun with friends. But beware, once you get bit by the hobby......... you always want more

The need for speed is never satisfied. I was totally used to the Beretta which pulled near 4 G on launch. I get far more nervous when playing a pool match than I ever did racing a car that could easily kill me with one wrong move. I still was trying to hook up more power and go quicker.
