Peter, When I cleaned up the room for the track there were a bunch of Trophies from the past. The one in the middle of the track is from the 2002 Pro Mod King of the strip series I ran in. It says 4th place. There were 10 top ten spots but by my calculations I should have been 2nd. The idiot that was tallying the points never updated, quit his job, and left everything a mess. If you note is was at Sunshine dragway not far from where you live. I won 2 events runner up in 2 and made the semis in the other 4 events. The steel run off starts were the track ends and goes for another 3'. I have been testing and several of the 20 mph cars do not even reach the cushioning at the end. The 30 mph ones do hit the cushion but not that hard. The older cars that have no magnets will cruise into the end but they do not hit hard. I have completed one of the hot ones I will be running in the outlaw inline. It is stupid fast even at 20 volts.

8/22, tried 7/20 and 8/24 with little difference. Those steel stop tracks stop the cars with strong traction magnets pretty quick. They just hit the cushion at the end of the track. The level 10 polys help a lot in that dept. The 3.5' of regular shutdown hardly slow them down. I had one BSRT that had level 4 traction magnets and taller rear tires. When I switched to level 10s and smaller tires to get the magnets closer to the track it picked up a full tenth in ET.

I got it.... run off after finish is half track half steel. 8/22 is what most use it mm/ps....... sili-foams in the .450 - .460 range. Reducing tire size this past season in several classes made a great difference. Went close to stock diameter , maybe .02 or .03 over. And got quicker cars.

Catch box added. Since the Cat refused to continue catch Cat duty I came up with this solution. Even running the fastest cars I have this stops them even after they get past the steel stop bars. After quite a bit of testing. None have reached the foam at the very end of the track. Made of plywood and covered with 2 layers of felt padding plus multiple layers in the box itself to catch the cars. It has caught the cars nicely with no damage. Even the AFX clip on style bodies stay on the faster cars now.

Built an Outlaw car for my son as a Christmas present. Set a new track record first shot out....... ?? Now I am working on mine to try and catch up. He is going to join the site and enter that car in the January race. Working on a T jet chassis for him since he also got a Black 67 Camaro T jet body, which he bought himself, and needs a good chassis to enter that Outlaw class.

As a post script to the last post my sons car suffered an accident when he changed gears in it. Made a fast move into reverse when the crown gear was put on the wrong side and destroyed some parts. After repair it slowed considerably, we think it hurt the armature when it was trying to push thru the wall.

Dave, which is why I always test with a power supply after any building or maintenance. I, too, have destroyed very valuable car by not checking first.

Yes Al, the test track was right there but the car had just made a run before the gear change. I told him which side the gear goes on but the chassis almost looks the same on the top or the bottom. I even took a quick look at it and did not catch the problem. Lesson learned.

Hear really strong ones are more sensitive to shock. And chassis, did you check for cracks (SGG+s are notorious for this) ? LOOKING FORWARD TO THE RACE ............ anybody else getting pumped for the start of the season...... ........ Peter

This one had Neo mags. It only ran about 4" in reverse before it hit the wall but by the time his finger was off the button more than 1/2 a second had elapsed with the tires grinding into the ground. It actually indented the pinion gear and ripped several teeth off the crown gear. Broke the body but there were no cracks in the chassis, magnets looked good. Commutator looked a little hot. Ohm checked the arm but they seemed pretty consistent. That does not always mean it is good however.
I AM READY TO RACE:
I have been working on these OUTLAWS a lot. Even at 20v they are quick. Times will be revealed in qualifying. Hopefully I have others to run against. I will have 2 cars for each outlaw class so there will be at least one run per class even if it's against my own car.
Track is working well with the new shut down area and the heavy duty wires giving good power all the way down the track.
