Fall Nationals drag race at Smoky Mountain November 11-13th

Next class is Inline Super Stock:

Low qualifier Nosubfor3 and his gold Firebird get the bye.

First two up are ECBill with a gold and white 57 Vette and Clive Mills with a black and white Hornby.
Bills Vette takes the win with a .6626 17.85 over the 1.0123 10.57 for the Hornby.

Next up are Dave632 and a Chevy Monte Carlo vs Clive Mills and a yellow Mercedes. The Monte Carlo gets the win running
a.6893 19.71 over the Mercedes .8256 13.14. This was an interesting race as the Mercedes jumped out to an early lead with a
.0561 60' to the .0757 for the Chevy. It held the lead to the 330' mark but the Monte Carlo pulled ahead at the 660 and took
the win.

Round 2 has Nosubfor3 and his Firebird vs Dave632 and his Monte Carlo. Nosub takes the win running a very good .6239 22.73
over the Monte Carlos .6870 19.54. The Chevy had the better 60' but the Firebird had the power passing the Monte at the 330'

Final run for the win is between TQ Nosubfor3 and his Firebird and ECBill with his Corvette. Nosubfor3 gets the win with a .6103 22.35 over the .6550 18.04 for the Vette.

First off the line is KIwiDave and his black 2015 Mustang vs Dave632 and his black and white 55 Chevy.
The Mustang gets the win with another strong run of .4107 37.88 over the .5967 24.26 for the 55.

Next up is ECBill with a blue 60 Corvette vs Dave632 and a black/red 57 Corvette. Bill gets the win but
this one was a good race with Bills Vette taking an early lead and Dave's Vette closing the gap at the stripe.
Not enough real estate to catch up however and Bill gets the win with a .5517 23.92 over Dave's .5660 26.53.

Inline comp FINAL:

TQ KiwiDave and his black Mustang vs ECBill and his blue Corvette. KiwiDave takes this one easily as the Mustang runs a strong .4135 37.46 over Bills .5434 24.98.
Congrats to Dave and his strong running Mustang on taking the Inline Comp win. This car would be competitive in Super Comp.

Next up is SUPER COMP featuring aftermarket chassis with Poly magnets and 2.5 arms.

Dave632 with a pair of cars for this one a blue 55 Chevy and a red 69 Camaro.
The 55 takes the win in a very good and close race with a .4337 29.14 over the Camaros .4441 also at 29.14.

Next up is ECBill and a white 57 Vette vs Dave 632 and a maroon 55 Chevy Nomad. This turned out to be the best race
of the event as both cars ran well. Bill's Vette takes a small .0023 hole shot and the nomad has to play catch up.
It does not catch up until just before the finish as it runs a .4415 3017 to the Corvettes .4485 28.65. The winning
margin in this race was a super close .0047 or about a bumper.

ECBill vs Dave632 R-1

Super comp final has a couple of Dave632 cars. The TQ blue 55 Chevy vs the maroon 55 Chevy Nomad for a battle of the 55s.
Another super race. This time the blue 55 Chevy gets the hole shot by .0118. The Nomad has to play catch up and it almost
does. This was a hole shot win, even though both cars are started at the same time,as the Nomad runs the better ET and MPH
but still comes up short. The blue 55 ran a .4387 28.89 and the maroon 55 ran .4366 30.44 to just come up short by .0097.

Dave thanks for running the event. Coverage and commentary were excellent and lots of incremental information. Just like in 1/1 drag racing, I look at the 60' numbers very closely. The numbers you show give me a comparison between our tracks for tuning and also show what a fast car should run. All are important obviously, but that 60' can make or break a run. I'm looking forward to next year already. Great job everyone with the cars. Clive I hope you will join us again this next year. It was certainly a pleasure racing against your cars.

Exciting racing action and top notch coverage! Congratulations to Dave, Kiwi Dave and Nosubfor3 on your victories. Thanks to all of you who participated. It was especially nice to have Clive join us from England! I sure hope you enjoyed your first foray into Nitro Slots drag racing. Hope that you will continue to join us in the future.

It was interesting how many of the cars in the lower classes out performed cars in the higher classes. Much of the stock class would have been competitive in the SS class. And Kiwi Dave's Comp Mustang would have run well in SC.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I will definitely take part in the next race meeting. I have learned a lot and hopefully I will do better next time. I always say winning is not important. It is taking part that is the fun.

Thanks for participating Clive. Your stockers ran well. The Hornby cars had to run Super Stock as they had braid for pickups which in my opinion is the best pickup
available. Most cars I have put braid on have picked up between 3-7 mph and .1-.4 in ET. Best and cheapest modification I have ever found. Try it on your stock cars
when they return. It will amaze you. I use something called solder wick which is available on E bay for a reasonable cost. I ordered some a month ago to give out as a gift to all the racers but it never arrived.
I am not familiar with the asian cars I do know Mercedes however.

The fact that some cars perform differently on each track has been a topic of conversation here a few times. In fact, I think it was discussed in this thread.  It's certainly not consistent.

The orange Camaro really likes Smoky Mountain speedway.  It bettered its best practice time by nearly a tenth. .675 vs .578.

On the other hand, the gold 57 Vette slowed from .634 to .6607.  This car regularly beat the Camaro in practice.

The blue 60 Vette slowed a bit too, .509 vs .5259.

The white 57 Vette's best practice run was .423 vs .4444 but that's a little better than its average of .481.

Do the rest of you experience such variation?
