Looks like every car improved some with the lower ohm cars showing the most improvement. This is what I found with any such improvement I made to my track. Keep up the good work GTS. When is your next race?

Might you change one of the classes to a inline type for this race?

The classes Gale suggest seem to compliment each other nicely.

I don't have any pancake cars, the reason I ask. I did enjoy being a spectator at JJ's race. The cars are cool and I understand why the cars are popular. I just never picked any up.

Gale's race isn't until August. Maybe pick up a car and a few parts and give it a try?? Plenty of time. We run a lot of pancakes classes here. I'm sure it would get used again. Could also double as a List car. I agree with what Bill said....the Classes compliment one another nicely and I think that might have been by design. I don't know. Gale's decision anyway.

T jet chassis are becoming quite expensive with NOS going for 26-30 dollars before any mods are made. Even used ones will bring 20+ and scrap chassis with many parts missing get top dollar. AFX chassis are much more plentiful going for less than half of the T jets with less mods needed to run good.

Thanks all, for the suggestions and the interest . I definitely pondered having an inline class (or 2) at the upcoming event but made a decision to have it be all pancakes this time around for various (IMO) reasons. I did want to include the List racing and thought, for me, it would be an easier race to run, including the List type cars as classes ran also. Plus, I really like the Tjet gassers . Since I joined here a little over a year ago, the pancake classes have been my biggest challenge to figure out so figuring the more I try to race them, the better I might get at tuning them and such. Yaw, I know, I live in a fantasy world a lot . Sorry inline racers, the intent was NOT to exclude anyone, but to have a fun, easy event . I do hope that all members here will consider entering the event once I get the rules posted and such! Thanks again for the interest! And, just so you know, I'm already thinking at my next race to have it be all inline (with a slight twist): Gasser/TR3, Door Slammer/DR1 and a Modern Top Fuel Rear Engine Dragster/ any inline. That might be fun, eh? And, oh yeah, List racing, too .

Are they really worth trying to rebuild? In my limited experience, I've found a new AW chassis does better than anything I try to do to the older chassis. Granted, my pancake skills are not the best .

Granted, my pancake skills are not the best . They are IMO worth rebuilding but you won't find me purchasing NOS at those prices. Still plenty of used stuff out there on Ebay and other places that are very affordable. I love the Tjets and pancakes in general. I like a challenge and to me there are much more mods that can be done to a pancake chassis to improve performance than an inline. Honestly I like them all. But I am a sucker for nostalgia and that's where the Tjets are at. Gale mentioned the AW Thunderjet chassis. My fastest Gasser is an AW chassis. I don't stock a ton of parts or cars either. I have just what I need and that is it. My cars are competitive and I don't ever spend a ton of money. So successfully building any fast cars , pancake or otherwise, can definitely be done.

There a lots of options for pancake cars. Tjet style: The original Tjets, Johnny Lightning, Auto World and Dash. AFX style: Original AFX, Magnatraction, Johnny Lightning, Auto World Magnatraction style and Xtraction style. Most of the newer stuff currently retails in the mid $20 range for complete cars, but can be had for under $20 by the savvy buyer. Hobby Lobby with a 40% coupon will get you there, as will many ebay auctions. There are a couple of ebay sellers listing complete Xtraction and 4 gear chassis' in the $11-12 range.
The pancake classes have been a lot of fun even if the low voltage events and 4 gear have been frustrating at times.
There is lots of good info on this site and others, on how to make a pancake car run fast.
