Looks like the readings are pretty close to Dash ceramic magnets. Like you say they might be matched better. I have found quite a variety in Dash readings with the more recent ceramic ones I purchased giving lower readings than older ones I have. The Dash Neo magnets I have read in the 3-4000 range, pretty useless for our purposes. I acquired my Dash magnets from Balls Out Racing a few months back and was impressed with their matching up also.

My 4gear is running horrible ,It may need a roller derby slingshot for somebody to notice it actually racing lol. Is there a "boat anchor" award or a worst first race trophy ?

Is there a "boat anchor" award or a worst first race trophy ? 4 Gears can be a real booger at times. Have you had a look at Jeff's thread on how to build 4Gears? Lots of good info there. If your 4 gear is an Auto World, sometimes removing one traction magnet will make a word of difference. Larger diameter tires may do the job too.

It is an aw , the thing has me bonkers,I have a green wire Jag arm to install, but after deburring gears, messing with brush pressures,,smoothing the arm./axle holes.and abunch of other stuff it's just about where it was outa the box. It's looking like the "Troublemaker" Belvedere's debut is gonna be very unimpressive

I was unfamiliar with these molded magnets. As far as I'm concerned they would be legal in the "class racing" at the Hot August Nationals. One of the admins will need to chime in on whether they would be legal for "list racing", i.e., PSO & 4GO.
Thanks for sharing the link .

Bill OS3 I believe would be the Brand name and the type would be White Dragon...Black Dragon...etc. As far as the Dash magnets you are referring to.....I've never seen or heard of those before. I think we would probably need some more information on them before we allow them. The referenced "Dash" magnets in the rules are the standard blue and white ones.

Sometimes when swapping motors can create this problem. I use a small round Dremel cutting bit to remove some material from the shaft hole. Sometimes it's difficult to see if this is happening, but it is a power robber if it is.

interesting that the term "molded magnets" has come about. ceramic magnets have always been molded, in fact the yellow and blue (sometimes other colors or no colors at all) Super II and AFX Hop Up magnets were zapped while they were still molten hot to align more molecules in the magnetic field direction. they were also called "oriented" magnets. they were the same ceramic mix as the original "cold zapped" magnets.

Thanks for sharing the link . I was considering sending an AFX with these mags and a Dash "5ohm" (which measures 3.7 on my meter) arm. It would have been for match racing only. Even with what should be advantages, its not much faster than the car equipped with a mean green and Super II mags.

The green wire arm will help. Make sure you run all those gears in with some simichrome or some such compound. With only the armature installed with its pinion, no brushes and no idler gears does the armature spin freely? As Bill said some times the second traction magnet will slow the car other times it does not, that's an easy one to check.

As Dave suggested check to see if the arm spins free in the chassis without gears. Try one traction magnet. Also check the arm height to make sure it is not dragging on the chassis bottom. The brass retaining collar on the bottom of the arm could be riding on the chassis. Sometimes the arm hole in the chassis between the bushes needs to be chamfered a little to avoid this.

Just a little less than 3 weeks left for your entries to arrive for the Hot August Nationals. It will be important that they arrive on July 31st or before so they can be video'd for the Best In Show. Also, qualifications will start early Thursday, Aug. 1st plus T-Jet eliminations thru the day. August 2nd; there will be a 4 hour delay (6am to 10 am) before the Nostalgia Pro Stock eliminations begin, due to a "life happens" obligation. August 3rd; 4gear eliminations and trophy presentations. August 4th; Best In Show presentation and the rest of the day will allow for PSO & 4GO racing. It's gonna be a Fun-tabulous weekend ..... see ya there!

My cars from England are on the way over. Let's hope for some great racing again. I was a silly boy and fiddled with the Texas Drifter, I think that I may have slowed it down. Why can't we leave them alone when they are running good.

It is just in our nature to tinker with them. About 90% of the time I fool with them I slow them down. The strangest one I had recently was adding shunts to one of the cars with no other changes and losing .03 and 1 MPH.
