Raceday 3 !! I can hardly wait for todays action! Good Times Speedway has been running fast all event. The ET's on my cars are running the same or slightly better than Bear Creek Dragway. Gale I believe it is running a little better than in the February race with the new power supplies and other upgrades. Does that seem accurate to you? Either way........your track is an absolutely beautiful venue for a posted proxy drag race. I do feel privileged to be running my cars there. Slam Bang coverage so far and looking forward more!! THIS is the reason we do this! Doorslammer with the Pancake Comp build is my favorite! Good luck to everybody.

The 55 bodies are Dash but the chassis are old Aurora AFX and exceptional ones at that.

The green/white 55 Chevy beat the best time it had here 3 times and I have 2 30 amp supplies. I think the GTS track surface is better than mine therefore giving better tire grip.

Yeah Dave, I was gonna bring this up tomorrow. It seems my track does offer a little more grip than what some might be used to. I have had a number of de-slots at the line where I felt it was necessary to add weight to the front plus cars popping in & out of the slot all the way down, those are cars without wheelie bars. I think everyone needs to be aware of this possibility and consider adjustments for the next proxy event here. I had no idea of this previously. Don't know for sure but sounds possible.

Yeah Jeff, I think this is my favorite too!
The qualifications commenced earlier this morning and here are the results: First some more pics at the starting line .
The Top Cat Jag had gear problems on the first qualifying run. Took body off, seemed fine on top and ran okay with body off for a short spurt. Put body on and it wouldn't leave the line. Had that sound I hate, stripped gears. I set it aside, didn't want to do any more damage.
Eliminations will begin shortly.

Nice group of cars, looks like some good racing ahead.
Very surprised that the Jungle Jim car did that well. Christine will most likely flatten its tires before long.

That is a pain in the but with Top Cat. It ran well at home but I only have some Tomy track to test them on, maybe just the extra grip did it for the gears? I will sort I when it comes home and get ready for next time. Clive

FIRST ROUND of ELIMINATIONS
Jungle Jim basically got a buy on this round but he ran strong. I couldn't help but notice the same as his qualifying time. I looked at the other numbers and it was only different by a couple thousands at the 60', 330', 660' and the MPH. Pretty consistent.
This was a close race from start to finish. Looked even all the way. The Grand Am pulled the win.
The VooDoo Child pulls up to the line thoroughly convinced that it's gonna pull off the big upset of the day. Wouldn't that be sumpthin'. The lights blink down and off they go . . . .
Ehh, wasn't even close. The Summit Camaro takes an easy win.
The Beautiful Corvette easily takes this one with a really strong run. I think Wing Nut is wantin' to get in the semi's.
Purple Haze was a little off his game on this run but easily takes the win.
Well the Vega Shaker was able to make it's best run of the day but so did the Red Corvette and the Vette takes it at the finish. Close race!
The Hillbilly Hearse also upped the anti and takes the win from Texas Drifter.
The Comp Cam Camaro is on again off again going down the lane. I think because it's braidless. Ecbill takes the win.
Second Round of eliminations will commence shortly.

Do not know what chassis your running but you need a 4 gear chassis with a screw that holds the gear plate to the chassis. Like the new Auto Word Chassis have. Or an Aurora Magnatraction chassis has. The gear plate has a tendency to lift at launch enough to slightly unmesh the gears. Also if the gear plate clamp is loose this will cause the same problem.Regardless that Jag is a beautiful car. Keep it positive Vince

Early AFX specialty chassis didn't have the screw to hold the gear plate steady.
During test and tune, 2 of my 4 gears had gears slipping. Turned out to be the rear axles were shifting to the side, to the point where the gear was over the smooth part (not knurled) of the axle. That was a new one on me. Had me stumped for a while. It was even gradually shifting one of the wheels on the axle.

Bill I have seen that happen before and I look for it when the 60' times are not good along with the crown gear or rear rims just plain slipping on the axle.
