Sucks about the computer. I hope it's nothing major. That is always my biggest concern coming into an event. Computer is an older model Dell gx270. The only thing it does is run the race program. I had to take it apart and replace some of the electrolytic capacitors in the power supply section. Fun to get to them. I was an electronics tech but that was a long time ago. The boards in these Computers solder the components on both sides. They had just started doing that when I stopped working on this stuff. My old solder removal tools would not take out the PC mounted parts. It was a real fight to remove and replace 5 Capacitors. Fortunately this did fix the problem. Then my optic Mouse went bad!!! Went and got a replacement for that. Then the Keyboard went bad!!!! I had one around that worked OK. That was fun. I am expecting all MY Cars to explode this weekend so I am wearing my racing helmet and fire suit. Deja vu, very similar scenario that I went thru a few weeks back. Started with a power supply, then went on to be one thing after another. After a couple weeks of sorting it all out, I now have a spare computer with the race program on it, so hopefully I can quickly replace a faulty one on a race day if the need arises.
Sure glad you got everything operational!

Sure glad you got everything operational! There area couple of old Dells in my attic that could be used for parts if/when the need arises. All should still have power supplies.

My track computer is my old hobby computer. So it still has some other programs on it, but it is not connected to the internet and is used only for the timing system as Dave's is. My hobby computer in the house is also running a copy of the timing program for a backup computer if needed. Good repair on the fly Dave! Good luck with the rest of the race! I am not expecting much from my cars, but I am looking forward to seeing everyone else's cars run! Good luck everybody this weekend!!

Shemp never had a drivers license but he claims that he piloted a Smoky Mountain car in an event a few years ago.
