The Neo magnets are useless for anything except for below 1 ohm.

Bill. Thank you very kindly for the Richard Dumas article. Bill Hall (Model Murdering) got me to memorize those articles a few months ago when I got into HO. But they don't really answer the question about compression molded or polymer magnets being considered ceramic. But it's a fantastic article! The most important thing for me at the start is to read, understand, and follow the rules. Sam. You are very kind and generous. I have been slowly collecting parts from Jag Hobbies, Lucky Bob's, etc. These are the magnets I have. Are the Dash level-6 compression magnets on the left legal for this race? Also. What is the best way to store magnets while not in use so they don't lose strength? Dash Motorsports website says the Killer Bees and the Blue/White magnets are considered around a level 4 in comparison. Thanks a million! Ken

Yep lvl 4 is comparable to ceramic. Blue and white and the yellow and black you can use. On the left no.

Hi Dave632,
Thank you very kindly.
I've heard that a powerful neo magnet will only slow down, or even sieze a light duty armature at low voltage/amps. I invested in the Blue/white Dash option for most of my cars where the stock magnets might be pooched or tired. They are priced super low at Jag Hobbies these days.

Sam,
Thank you very kindly for clarifying.
I will reserve the lvl-6's for a high-speed bullet sometime in the future. I have a 4-Ohm arm under a glass dome. They might go well together...

Ceramic is what you used to find original in slot cars. Compression magnets are material squeezed together facing North and South (or East and West, really don't remember) until they magnetize. Poly are magnet material mixed in poly in a mold to make the magnets.
Compression and poly are cheaper and can be made different strengths. So they have replaced Ceramic magnets. That's why a lvl 4 is called Ceramic grade. It's not Ceramic put the magnetic pull is the same as Ceramic.
Now...I really don't know what I'm talking about. That's just kind of some info I've gathered. Wrong or right no idea but it sure helps figure things out.

The gasser class is comp. When we run super comp you can use those magnets, so you will need them :-)

Magnets are always them most confusing item when building a chassis and they cause the most controversy. I prefer the Dash blue/white magnets for my stock to gasser class chassis as they read about 800-950 which I have found is ideal for those classes. Now there may be better ones out there but I have not found them yet. When I hold a race I don't worry about what method was used in manufacturing but I have a gauss meter. In general using anything over 1000 gauss with a 14 ohm armature will slow it down. For a 6 ohm you can get away with about 12-1600 gauss and then it goes up from there. A 1 ohm can use a 2000-2500 gauss as an example. To weak or to strong both offer less performance. Some of the Neo magnets read in the 4000+ range and are pretty much good for only .5 ohm or less. Having said all that I have found the motor magnet to be not as important in building as other items. I have gained far more performance out of a chassis with the right traction magnets vs no traction magnet, to weak or to strong.

Crazynski I like your Cat Avatar. I have an actual Cat that acts like that, 11 pound 8 month old Kitten??, bonkers but makes you laugh.

Dave, I humbly thank you. My avatar pales in comparison to yours.
I have a cat and dog. The two are often asleep on the floor, nose to nose. The dog sneezes and the cat hits the roof and slams back down to the floor looking like my avatar. I can identify with that kind of inspiration. Cats are proof that God has a sense of humour.

Good Day Drag Mate's Though I would share a little bit of Gnome/Jeff Graybeal Achievements in Inline Custom Armature's, This one in Car 54 At a heavy .93 grams. One of His Frist he has made for me. From a Armature I bought from Harden Creek $30. Pluss 1ohm HI Speed, balanced Then Jeff rebuild it into a .20 Custom Armature achieving A ET.2733 And 61.42mph, On what may be His frist Armature, Much testing of New ideas, Armature's are in the Workings. Jeff has built me others with my own Testing Ideas. I'm more the pleased with His Armature's then Morrison's from Slottech and Scale Auto at the time is not building Armature, And Gary Beedle, if and when will not do Custom Armature's. I beleave Jeff Workmanship Is equal or even better then some of the Greatest Armature Master Builders. Near or Equal to Slottech Founder Anthony Porcelli. Asking All Drag Mate's to encourage Jeff.
