Good to know. Thanks Al. Always good to have options.
Dropped a gold chrome car in the Super Clean this afternoon. We'll see how that works out.

I look forward to seeing/hearing the results. I also have a gold-chrome car... why the heck do they do that?

Some of the chrome cars are selling for a lot on e bay, seems no one liked them when they came out so they are rare.

I have a gold-chrome Johnny Lightning 70 Challenger from a 4-pack of cars. I really only wanted the other 3-cars. I have a funny feeling this isn't one of those rare collectables. But since you mentioned it Dave... I will leave this one alone for a while and put it on the back shelf. Thank you kindly for the suggestion. I'm still curious how El Camino Bill made out with his gold-chrome car in the Super Clean?

I ordered some super clean. Want to see how well it takes off some of the terrible paint jobs I bought on e bay. I had some of the purple chrome AFX 57 Nomads which I sold because I did not like the looks of them. They now are selling for near 100 dollars on e bay.

I don't mind chrome if it's the right colour, and suits the car. My very first racer here at Nitro Slots. The green chrome is staying put. Gold chrome can sometimes look a bit tacky. Sort of like a golden toilet. It's still only poop after all.

A lot of eBay sellers ask big $ for the gold chrome cars but not many are getting them.
My experience is that they are hard so sell. That’s why I got started painting flames etc on them, in effort to make them more desirable.
We used to strip the purple chrome Afx Nomads when they were made by Aurora. A lot of times we found very desirable rare colors underneath. Did that in all of the chrome Afx such as: AP Vette, Charger, Merc stocker, AMX. That’s why you often find AMXs with a mismatched hood or AP Vette with odd bumpers.
When you find any Afx chrome cars check the plastic color where the glass or bumpers are welded on.

Thanks for the tip on Super Clean, works FAR better than anything I have tried before and if you time it right it will remove the garbage paint and still leave the factory paint on. I left an experimental one overnight and it took the chrome off the bumpers also.

That’s one of the best things about Nitro Slots, we learn lots of great things from our racing brothers! The Super Clean suggestion originally came from Ken. Gave it a try and was pleased with the results.
WalMmart sells it. You can get a gallon for under $7. Their web site said they had the gallon bottles in stock at out local store, but all I could find was a spray bottle for almost as much.
Don’t know if I had a brain storm or brain fart, but was wondering if Super Clean, in an ultrasonic cleaner would make a super stripper.

One body had some paint on it that was from Krypton, it would not come off at all.

A used credit card or similar item should scrape off the softened paint, and usually won't damage the plastic body. Some paints are like that.
Old credit cards, or cards from coffee shops work well. I cut them in half to create a sharp edge to get into the body lines.
Tough paint can take 30-minutes to an hour to scrape off even after soaking in Super Clean for 3-days. But it usually all comes off if you have patience.

I also use a sharpened wooden c***tail stick the get into any small creases, like door shut lines. Sorry but the system will not allow me to use the correct word, it must think that I am using a swear word .

Bodies and chassis are often both arriving without body screws. So out of frustration, I finally bought a few extras. I also discovered something interesting called a "chrome stripper body". So I threw one in the shopping cart. After a night in Super Clean. It's ready for fresh paint.

Another use for paint stripper. Had a "0" paint brush that was crusted with old dried paint. Was going to soak it in lacquer thinner to try to save it. My littler bottle of thinner is right next to the stripper vat, so the idea hit me to try soaking the brush in the stripper. Worked great. Paint brush salvaged.
