We use copper tape for power rails with 1/32 routed tracks. What do you use on a home-made routed HO track please? The rail needs to be ferrous metal for the traction magnets. Other than that I don't know what is used for that. I'm like Dave and purchased a Max Trax set up. Very happy with it.

Max Trax is not cheap to get into Canada. Can it be easily separated for storage? Or is meant to be permanent?
Thanks a million! Ken

it comes in approximately 3' sections and you can use it any way you want. personally, I made 6' sections which handles and stores easily.

Was just reading about track rails for routed tracks on another forum. They mention that galvanized would not be good to use. All that I’ve found had been either galvanized or copper coated. Not sure if copper coated would work or not.

I wish I could see a Max Trax with my own eyes.

Being isolated here at the bottom of the world we have the same problems with availability and shipping costs. The Kiwi boys ended up making their own routed tracks. Sandfly might be worth having a chat to Ken.

Hi KiwiDave, Thank you very kindly for the advice. I will do as you suggest. The floor is finished and has enough space to run a track... if I had one. The tape-measure is stretched out to 24', 3". Looking the other way shows the workshop which is 12' x 15'. The milling machine was bagged up during the reno and put on casters to protect the new floor. The catch box can be located in the shop area with lots of extra space behind it. Progress continues slow but sure.

Sandfly has been a big help to get me started in the right direction. Thanks a million!
Just out of curiosity. How wide in total is Max Trax, and what's the center to center distance to each lane please?

we have used this binding wire and find it very good at keeping the lanes even, tho to hold in place is some what of a mission.
