Can the arm be balanced, trued and dewound to get the 15 ohms? Are shunts gonna be allowed? Plastic Gears or Brass? Can we got to a higher gear on the rear or just the 9t? Can we lighten the chassis? Is there a limit on the highth of the rear tires? Do the front tires have to hit the track or maybe just slightly? More later.

More tomorrow.
Here is the latest draft of SUPERSTOCK RULES in effect. These rules will be declared final and official in approximately one week.....and in no case later than midnight, April 25, 2008 and remain in effect til midnight December 31st, 2008. This one week period will allow all members to find discrepancies and or typographical errors. After April 25, 2008, any questions regarding interpretations, intent, and rulings Shall be directed to Psychoslots in the 'rules discussion' thread in SUPERSTOCK category. Racers and builders are advised to read carefully the section on wheels and tires, the rules are specific, but compliance is not complex. Similarly, the section on BODIES is lengthy and specific. Competitors are advised to read it carefully. The intent is not to disqualify any entrant but for all rules and their intent to be abundantly clear to all. Race weekend interpretation, is subject only to THE MEET DIRECTORS DISCRETION under NTRA oversight. Protests must be during the competition, and no later than 15 minutes after the final win light. Protests Will automatically be referred to NTRA's rules committee for a ruling within 48 hours maximum. (24 hours typical) The intent of the protest procedure, and the protest consideration itself, is to provide a fair and equal playing field only. The process may well find TECHNICAL violations, but the commitee is at full freedom to determine whether any competitive advantage has been gained by said violation. If the violation is considered minor and/or unintentional, no penalty shall necessarily be attached to the ruling to the violating entrant.
SUPERSTOCK CLASS: 16 ohms minimum
Armatures: AURORA Stock Thunderjet or Model Motoring 16 ohm armatures, only. All armatures shall be of copper clad, two-lamination design, with a resistance reading at each pole to be not less than 16.000 ohms." (Johnny Lightning, Aurora Wild ones, Aurora AFX, Aurora Speed wound, Aurora Tuff ones, as well as Model Motoring Thunder Plus armatures which violate the 16 ohm rule, are specifically prohibited. Permitted blueprinting shall include the following: Air gapping (making the armature concentric to the shaft) Balancing by adding or removing material, and Surfacing of the commutator. Armatures may not be otherwise tampered with in any way. Specifically prohibited are rewinding, dewinding, and retiming of armatures. In addition armatures shall not be painted, dyed or tinted in order to facilitate tech inspection. (the intent and spirit of these rules is to allow blueprinting, but not modification of the original armature) If the armature has an unusual appearance to the tech crew, they are at liberty to ban it at their discretion. Entrants are encouraged to provide a build sheet listing blueprinting alterations employed. The intent is not to disqualify anyone, but to leave absolute clarity as to the intent of these armatures restrictions. For purposes of the foregoing, the use of the word armature(s) implies the complete unit, including the armature itself, the commutator plate, the shaft and the windings.
Axles: Any axle is permitted. Axles must ride in appropriate stock location for given body style.
Ballast: Ballast may be used. Ballast shall not be visible outside body lines when car is viewed in its normal on-track attitude. Ballast much be attached to the chassis. Tape is not a legal attachment material.
Body: Body must be an approved make and model for this class. (North American prototypes only, years 1960- 1969.) Bodies are required to have a stock appearance and attitude. Wings, Air dams, spoilers and all similar devices and appendages must be only those employed on the full size car. if you think you have a unique prototpye, supply a picture. Airscoops will be permitted as long as they dont exceed the DODGE HEMI DART scoop in size and profile. Modern "prostock and pro-mod scoops are not permitted nor are injector 'hat' inductions permitted. Scoops of early pro-stock "boxes" or snorkels will not be permitted. Scoops should have a factory type appearance. Also permitted are Ford type 'hood blisters." (this air scoop lenience permitted because of different year/rule allowances by NHRA.) Cowl induction hoods are permitted but should not be extreme in size and should assume a typical "factory" installation. Body posts may be modified to lower, raise or rake body. Bodies must employ both mounting screws and shall be full and complete as produced. Resin replica bodies are permitted. No cutting, grinding, trimming or sanding of bodies, including wheel-wells will be permitted. Exception: The inner fender area may be sanded lightly to clear approved racing tires. Bodies must have front and rear glass as supplied by the manufacturer. Bodies shall employ all trim as supplied by the injection molder or resin caster. Extreme 'custom' versions of stock Bodies are not permitted. Glass, including areas not visible outside the body must not be altered. Lexan, acetate, or similar window material allowed only as original equipment. (most resin bodies employ Lexan-type windows from the producer) SIDE window glass, when not part of the production body may be added and may be of lexan, injected plastic, acetate or similar materials. Bodies that are produced with injection molded side glass, or any other type of side glass must retain the OEM window. SOLID COLOR, or OPAQUE glass may be used but must be painted black. Cast- in- glass- bodies (one piece casting) shall have the windows painted black. Note: see Appendix one, Body Listing.

Chassis’ may have any and all of the following: de-burring, clearancing, polishing, hardening and/or blueprinting. None of these treatments shall cause the chassis to weigh less than original. A slight chassis rake is permitted when the rake is the result of undersized front tires, or larger than stock rear tires.. The top plate shall not be altered or cut, including the top "rails." Chassis base shall not be cut drilled or modified in any way.
Guide-pin: Only one guide-pin, in original location, is permitted. Guide-pin retaining screw is required, but pin may be secured additionally with glue, or heat-bonded to chassis. Lengthened guide pins are not recommeded, as they bottom out the slot of a standard track.
Gears: Original T jet 9 tooth final pinions only, are permitted. Any crown gear may be used. Gears may be polished and blueprinted, but not excessively. Aftermarket gears, similar and equal to original t jet gears are permitted. Billet gears, Lightweight CNC gears, beveled gears and the like are forbidden.
Magnets: Original AURORA Thunderjet or Model Motoring ceramic magnets only. Use of Johnny Lightning, Autoworld, Aurora Wild ones and Tuff ones, Aurora Super, II Aurora AFX, Aurora Screechers and/or any other magnet exceeding known and widely available magnet strengths and materials as employed in the Original Aurora Thunderjets or Model Motoring series is prohibited. Magnets may be shimmed with non ferrous, non magnetized material.Magnets may be glued in place. Magnet faces maybe sanded or trimmed.
Magnets, Traction: Traction magnets of any kind, are not permitted.
Pick-ups: Aftermarket Pick up shoes may be used. Design must be essentially T-Jet in function and form, but need not be exact copies of OEM. (ski shoes and the like are permitted) Silver pickups are permitted. Braid pickups, or similar additions and/or modifications to stock type pickups are not permitted. Shunt wires are not permitted. Pickups may be re-arched, or reprofiled, but must essentially of T Jet design and function.

Any wheel and tire not exceeding the dimensions, form and function of RRR part #821 Wheel Tire set (RRR NARROWS) i.e. a maximum tire width of .115" is permitted." Front and rear tire/wheel set may be of differing dimensions. Lo-profile tires are permitted, but tires must be of sufficient diameter so as to contact track when car is in a normal on–track attitude. (local ground rules may allow the near-touching of front tires.) Tires may be bonded to the wheels. Delrin wheels, injection molded wheels and similar aftermarket wheels and tires are permitted if they do not exceed the dimensions of the aforementioned RRR wheel and tires. Specifically prohibited are coated foam tires, and foam tires. Front wheels may not extend in width beyond the fender lip, as measured vertically from the 12 o'clock position on the wheel opening arc.
Wheelstand control devices (wheelie bars): Wheelie bars are not permitted. No attachment to body or chassis may extend in such a way as to contact the track surface in other than a normal, Stock manufacture fashion.
Any item not specifically mentioned in these rules is deemed not legal for replacement and/or modification unless specifically deemed legal by the rules committee at least 4 weeks before the event. Therefore any competitor wishing to use a product not specifically declared legal or any product which may be called into question is advised to contact Psychoslots, specifically NTRA, with your question or appeal. NTRA encourages originality in approach to tuning and modifying sot cars, but within limitations that insure a fair and equal opportunity to all racers. SuperStock, By it's very nature is a very limited class in terms of actual modifications or hop-ops beyond the generally accepted and commonly practiced tuning methods

WOW I never built a thang like that before. I gotta read this again 8^). Can't do a wheel stand, no wheelie bar - couldn't anyhow cause it got no grip. Can't hop up the motor cause it'll cause a wheel stand. Can't make it any lighter cause the front wheels might leave the track and deslot. I could put some lead under the pick up shoes to hold it down along with some chevy coil springs. I gotta thank about thisun a bit.

You got it exactly right Slugger!!! LOL
Slugger is having a joke at our expense, but he raises a very good point! The rules are INTENDED to be LIMITING. Its Superstock, not modern pro stock or AA/Fuel altered.
The limitations in the rules are two things: part of the challenge, and cost savings measures as well.
The GASSER NAtionals proved to be a bit of field leveler because of the limitations placed on builders. It can be either frustrating or a huge challenge trying to make a car fast with only 'blueprinting' efforts and a great learning experience for the guys who havent "graduated" to radical hot rods yet.
For those of you who don't know, Slugger races some of the wildest and fastest HO slot cars in the universe at some of the fastest tracks, and until a red light doomed him at Gassser at the Gasser Nationals he ahd one of the hotter entries. Indeed, it has probably been years since he he built a superstocker. What is yuor web address again, Slugger?

Thats it , thanks. www.sluggercan.com. Check it out, but wear a helmet and seatbelt. No offense taken.................in non technical langauge: which might work better lol you may balance the arm, you may surface the com plate, you can true the diameter of the armature. Polish the gears but do not do so excessively..( a subjective point , I realize) Do not grind them, lighten them, bevel them, etc etc. The whole thing should look like a well tuned AURORA THUNDERJET. Wheels and tires use the RRR 821 set as a reference as to size and diameter , but the use of RRR wheels is not mandatory. They are just the profile we used as typical of what we thought looked right for this class. The arm limit is actually 16 ohms not 15. That was a typo. No chassis cuts .....none. Polish, chamfer, ream all openings but no lightening. Use any axle. No braids, no shunts, no gear changes. The intent is to allow blueprinting efforts. but not moidifications. Make it run as a THUNDERJET ideally would have from factory, with aftermarket, modestly sized slicks. I am sure you have it figured before now, Slugger, but maybe this style of explanation will help the other guys as well......................If in doubt ask!!! its the only way we can clarify the rules.
