Ok its race night at Sandfly Alley, weathers been a bit cold so times are down, track has been prepped and is ready to go. A new class will be run tonight, std 4 gear pickup truck racing, most of these will be new builds tho some are already competing in nostalgia 4 gear. Will take a pic and post what the class looks like.

Utes . Many on the forum may not realize that EC in ECBill is for el Camino. Love them Utes. Kept hoping GM would import the Holden Ute to the US.

It aint ute racing its truck racing... These are trucks, was a great introduction, first race of the night, the winner being the shop truck (red 0ne), sandfly was second with the gray one. Managed not to red light the inline cuda for another chicken dinner, lost in the top fuel final, bugger.

On some Chevy sites that I frequented, my user name was elCaminoBill, so when I came to Nitro Slots, I just shortened it a little. Back then I had a 74 elCamino with a 75 Laguna S-3 nose and a 400 SBC. Sold it and got a super clean 86.

I would have thought you would have had a 57 Vette!!! Wish I had been so lucky. Came close once, sorta. Saw a magazine article about a 57 Vette kit car designed to be built on a GM A/G body. At the time I had a 79 Regal. When I tried to get one of the kits, the company who made them was bought up by another company who decided to drop the Vette. They were only interested in continuing their 57 T-Bird kit.

Perhaps KiwiDave or Sandfly would clarify. Is Ute a generic term for all trucks or is it specific to the half truck half car hybrids similar to elCaminos and Rancheros, like the late model Holden Utes?

Hi great question, here we call most small cab & chassis a ute including things like the elcamino, i think the proper ute is a vehicle model which has had the rear roof cut of and a payload area incorporated, some of these have had full chassis some are monococ design. Things like toyota hilux, mazda bt50, ford ranger, holden commodore, things like the ford f150 we call trucks as these are generally bigger and have a bigger tow capacity. Hope this helps.

Does that mean we might call this a "Vwute"?
