in the spirit of last year when I hosted a follow up race after down under ..... I would like to host Labor Day Eliminations using the same classes and rules as Gale's August race. Thunder Road is 1/64 scale 1/8 mile on Max Track with a Track Mate DP3000. like last year, racers at Gale's race can opt to have their cars forwarded to me if they like, including prizes and awards which I will certainly be sure to include when I ship the cars back to the proper owners after this race. as far as the "Street Outlaws" cars go, .... I could run a straight up elimination race for each category that doesn't count in the points, but gives everyone data on the 1/8 mile.
I would certainly like to hear some thoughts on this idea!
hopefully this could fit in nicely between currently scheduled events.

What would the date for this be? There needs to be time for postage from outside the States.

What would the date for this be? There needs to be time for postage from outside the States. Clive Labor Day weekend is the first weekend in September. Al is saying that the cars from Gale's race would be mailed directly to Al. They would not need to go back to you if you decided to participate. My concern is that it is scheduled too close to the Texas Nationals which is at the end of September. We normally like to have at least 1 month between events if for no other reason than to catch our breath and get our cars back home. That is a little tight, but it could be done if there is enough interest.

yes, please! explore the possibilities. if, in fact, the classes in the Texas Nationals are not the same as Gale's race this will be easier on everyone. be sure to understand I, in no way, am dictating or suggesting anyone what classes they should run. in the case of the street racers, maybe they get returned directly home instead of to me. I understand the expense that Gale might have for splitting shipping and I would certainly offset that cost for Gale. in any case, I am, absolutely open to all opinions and suggestions. again, this is just an idea and if it doesn't pan out, no worries. and, I can run the event anytime in August once I get the cars. Labor Day is not set in stone.

Here's my 2 cents: I lean toward it taking place closer to my event rather than Jeff's. Those that decide to partake, I would be glad to ship all those cars in one box to alpink's race and I would forward all of the return shipping funds to alpink for those entrants so he could use that to return your cars after his race. No extra fees, I'll foot the bill to get the cars to alpink! I will expediate the return of those cars to their owners that do not want to participate in alpink's race. I assume the final decision will be up to the admin's and alpink. Count me in on what ever gets decided

I like to start promoting my races after the completion of the prior event. So I would wait till after Al's race if it takes place. That would actually work out pretty good and we get an extra bonus event. Gotta love that!

JJ, since my race is sort of a support race, I encourage you to start promoting yours as soon as Gale's is over. I respect your thoughts, but there is no need to wait.

I have no problem with my cars going to Al's race right after Gales but I also think a month between events should be given if possible.

I recognize that this is short notice which is one reason why I am still interested in opinions. the idea that folks can get double duty out of cars already on the road which may or may not be scheduled for the next event is my purpose. certainly not to detract in any way from established hosts and their long term event schedules.
there are a couple more guys who still might share, so this is still in the formation stages and might not come to fruition.

Al's events are always a good time.
Has Jeff announced the classes for his Sept. race? If the classes differ from Gale's race, it should make it a lot easier.
In a couple of recent events, my PSO car pulled double duty. It was pretty tired by the time the PSO matches came around. Times were falling off quite a bit. Haven't really tried that with other cars. Has anybody else had similar experiences?

The cars can fall off in performance after some runs at times. Especially the pancake cars.

No problem with shipping my cars directly from GTSs event to your event Al. Some of the pancake cars may fall off in performance but it will be the same for all. I have been trying to work on the 4G cars recently and they are going up and down in performance like yo yo's. About to give up on them. After all the time I have worked on these cars they are still a mystery to me at times.

For those going to Thunder Road: if you think it will make a difference, I'd be glad to change rear tires for anyone if you want. Just gotta send them along with your cars with instructions. I don't want to change any wheels out though . I haven't had time to do any testing with my cars at the 660' mark yet so don't know if it's even worth the effort but thought I'd throw that out there in case any one thought it might make a difference on alpink's 1/8 mile track.
