What are the drawbacks / perks of running the 1st generation G-Plus inline chassis down the dragstrip..? ?

I have often wondered this myself as I have lots of them and the standard gears are an 8 tooth pinion and 20 tooth crown. I have used these gears in Viper chassis successfully. Although the crown needs slight modification to clear the chassis.

The aurora G+ is a descent plate form for an inline chassis.I have never had one to test but with the brush configuration you should be able to run Tyco,Wizzard,Slottech and Viper arms. Super G+ Plus armes will not work. The pick up shoes are hard to find when they wear out.Don't know what type of motor magnets they have.

I have quite a few of the old G+ chassis and they run pretty good. They need traction magnets and braid on the pickups to get into the .6s on my track. The gears are good and Super Tires are also a good edition. I think my quickest one with a 6 ohm arm can dip into the high .5s so they can be made to run.

I have "aquired" a few of the AFX Blazing Brake chassis on e-bay. This is configured much like the old g-plus with different pick-ups & holders along with a snap-in rear axle. much like the rare super magna traction cars. They can wear most AFX snap on bodies. I am making progress with mods & tuning and will keep you fellas posted.

The old G+ chassis needs traction magnets and a wheelie bar to run decent down the drag strip and in my opinion a good chassis to work with. Motor magnets are pretty standard Ceramic ones that read in the 7-900 range, armatures are standard 6 ohm inline with standard timing not 90 degrees out of phase which is what nosub mentioned. I would have to say the same about the Blazin brakes chassis. I have some dead stock Blazin brakes chassis that can hit 20 MPH on my track which is very good and faster than most Super G+ without mods. I would highly recommend braid on the Blazin brakes/Cats eye/Super magnatraction chassis as the pickup shoes are hard to find. I was able to fit some Tyco pickup shoes to these chassis but you have to reshape them some.

I just wanted to mention that the pickup shoes are available for the Blazin brakes style chassis on e bay but they are expensive at 5+ dollar a pair + shipping and no one else either sells them or has them in stock so make sure you preserve them with braid. I just bought 4 of those chassis off e bay for about 40.00 and I made sure they came with pickup shoes. I would also say that I have done some work on the Blazin brakes style chassis and I got one in the mid to low .5s on my track. The chassis would qualify for the Super Stock class and be competitive.

Tyco 440 (flat nonX2) shoes will work on these chassis. Snap off the spring retainer tabs, then bend slightly to maximize rail contact. Available in copper or silver.

Thanks. Yes, I have used those in place of the originals with some success as the Tyco's sell for much less especially if you buy in bulk.

I have been knocking around with the blazing brake chassis and have discovered Dave's observations are pretty much spot on. With braids, silver tyco brushes, and tyco level 4 magnets the traction issue comes into play. I want to aquire a few more of them before I do much more with them. Making some room for a traction mag is next on the list. Thx. for all the knowledge being shared.

Gibbo,
The Blazzin Brakke chassis' has a history of success at Nitro Slots. A few years ago a BB car won its class in an event. Seems like it was in the stock inline class.
Looking forward to seeing what you can do with them!
