Good Evening Dave I'm hoping to complete 5 cars, my 1969 Charger is loaded and ready to come to Knoxville Tennessee. Please register charger in the 2.5 ProMod class. Also, register 2 Rocket Supercars for the unlimited class. Thank you Dave, I look forward to your event all year long,

I have taken out all of my Inline parts which is primarily the SG+ type platform and doing inventory. It's been awhile since I've put a lot of focus on my inline tuning, but I have participated. My cars usually run decent, but I have a hard time getting over that tuning hump to the upper tier cars. There are some blazing ET's being run in all of the inline classes these days. And with the amperage that Smoky Mountain has available, these cars are going to scream. I am enjoying getting into the tuning for this race and trying to get over the "hump". Will I make it this time.....I don't know?? All I'm looking for is an improvement and I will be happy. Viper just got some of my money and there might be more $$ spent before I'm done. Looking forward to the race and I'm glad there is plenty of time. I'm actually having the hardest time trying to figure out what to run in the 1.0 Index Class. I'm thinking it's probably going to be a pancake because I don't have any inline that are close to that slow. I have no clue what to do at the moment. I'm loving it though because everything in the box is making a pass

Jeff, I have to say the racers have stepped up and got even the stock inlines flying so it will take some effort to win a class. The 1.0 will be a mystery to everyone so it should be fun. I think I could get an inline to run around 1.0 but I will leave that up to the racers. In my opinion the inlines are more consistent but that will remains to be seen. Looking forward to running this event.

I'm loving it though because everything in the box is making a pass I think everything I have went down the track a few times too, trying to figure what to use for the 1.0 Index class. Been goin' thru all my old written records also, hopin' I could figure out an approximate performance increase that I normally do at Dave's track. I don't know if you have any but one of my regular G+'s runs pretty dang consistent, might do a DQ at Dave's, but it'll be close. Most of the G+'s I have were way too slow. For backup I have an old tired 440 Tyco that's a little bit slower and it's consistent too. It's a slim line chassis and I only have one crappy Detroit body for it. Don't want to chance switching it over to a wide pan, afraid it'll run better . Another thing about the 1.0 Index Class; not being for sure how a car will run at Dave's, I thought it would be better to send 2 cars rather than 1. I notice some are only sending 1 car. What am I missin'?

I think your in my head. I was thinking about the G+. I have several buried deep that haven't seen the track in YEARS..........until now ! Now this is the side benefit of running an open chassis Index Class or Bracket race. Stuff that never makes it out of the box gets to go down the track with an audience. Gotta love that!!

I pulled them out and blew the dust off. Man these bring back memories...and they all survived my teenage years. The Ferrari 312pb will stay intact and go back in the box. It's still in good shape. The other three I will put a little time into to see if they are worth messing with or not. Also found some original Super II bodies that I haven't seen in awhile. Pretty cool opening the vault.

The 312PB is one of my absolute favorite road coarse bodies of all time, that and the Cheetah. I have about 6 of those, 3 w/original chassis. In fact, I robbed one of the chassis for the 1.0 Index . Another 312 body I pinned on to a modified Wizzard Storm, a joy to drive . I hope the G+ works for you!

Personally if I was entering the 1.0 class I would enter 2 cars to double the chances. There will be a heavy luck factor in that race as no one will be able to test on the track that the race will run on and I am not in that class. Should be interesting to see what happens in that one. Jeff those 2 Super II bodies should bring some good money on e bay as the collectors go nuts for that stuff. I sold one complete car I had for 275.00 several years ago. Personally I did not like the way they ran, thought they were dogs, many of my standard AFX cars would beat the Super II even though it has a special arm and magnets in it.

Dave, I agree my magnatarctions ran better than my original Super II, my Super II's tend to be trailer queens in their original set up. Also Dave, what sort of times do the tjets that you sent to JJ's race run on your track?

I had the same experience and I got to keep the "bonus" armature (actually two arms) that was included in the mail in offer that I took advantage of. I returned my Super II for a full refund and used those extra arms in tuff ones chassis. the Super II was based on an extreme modification of the original AFX built by Tony Perchelli(sp) who beat the previously commanding TYCO products. Aurora hired Tony as a teenager to develop a manufactured chassis that was close to his custom chassis. many times he threatened to quit because Aurora couldn't incorporate every nuance of his custom AFX chassis, but he was always convinced to stay and help with the development of the Super II. I never seen any mention of a Super I ..... LOL

Also Dave, what sort of times do the tjets that you sent to JJ's race run on your track? The T jets I sent to JJs race ran slightly better here at times. I actually hit a best of .99 with the white 67 Camaro @ 13 mph but it only did it once. I did hit times like 1.03 - 1.05 with it many times. The maroon 69 Camaro also hit some low 1.0s with even higher mph hitting as high as 14 mph. The 67 Camaro had the best 60' time of them all which helped it wins its class as the other cars were all playing catch up.The fastest of all the cars was the Dodge Challenger which hit 15 mph on a couple of passes but the quickest ET of all was the green 57 Chevy which hit a best of .98 here on my track running at 14 volts. Those times were pretty good considering that most red tip AFX cars cannot hit 15 MPH running at 20 volts. The Challenger hit 20 mph when running at 20 volts which was the best speed ever hit by a 14 ohm AFX car on my track @ 14v. The difference between the AFX and T jet chassis showed up more at 20 volts where the AFX had a clear advantage of only a few hundredths but it was obvious as it worked out to a couple of car lengths. At 14 volts all the cars could have run together as the ETs were very similar. Which ever car was running best that day would be the winner. I must have run 100 tests on those cars checking out different combinations.

Like I said I sold my Super II for a good price on e bay years ago so it worked out good for me. If I remember right the car originally sold for about 25.00 when the regular AFX were going for 5.00 so not many were sold.

the mail order offer that I found in a slot car magazine was $12.50 and included the extra Quadralam armature as a bonus with the promise that you could keep it if you returned the Super II. when I got mine, initially, I wrote to Aurora and claimed I didn't get the bonus armature, so they sent me another one. then I sent the Super II back for a full refund. of course, now I know I should have just kept the Super II. LOL

I know Al. If I could go back in time there are quite a few things I would change.
