Jeff those 2 Super II bodies should bring some good money on e bay as the collectors go nuts for that stuff. I sold one complete car I had for 275.00 several years ago. Personally I did not like the way they ran, thought they were dogs, many of my standard AFX cars would beat the Super II even though it has a special arm and magnets in it. the Super II's were intended for commercial track racing, although the advertising never mentioned that. I had the same experience and I got to keep the "bonus" armature (actually two arms) that was included in the mail in offer that I took advantage of. I returned my Super II for a full refund and used those extra arms in tuff ones chassis. the Super II was based on an extreme modification of the original AFX built by Tony Perchelli(sp) who beat the previously commanding TYCO products. Aurora hired Tony as a teenager to develop a manufactured chassis that was close to his custom chassis. many times he threatened to quit because Aurora couldn't incorporate every nuance of his custom AFX chassis, but he was always convinced to stay and help with the development of the Super II. I never seen any mention of a Super I ..... LOL I was just a pre teen kid when they came out. I got those two in a racetrack setup for Christmas. The yellow one was my brothers and the red one was mine. They are pretty beat up but I would never think about getting rid of them anyway. Too many memories. Some of the bodies that I race now were from back then. The Super II cars we had did not run as well as some of my other cars. But they had the cool factor X 10......lol. I remember looking at the red one and not even wanting to run it because I was afraid of wrecking it. Ahhhh man....those were the days.

Yes I have quite a few cars from the 70s that still go down my track occasionally, some I keep for the memories only. It is good to see we are getting some dusty cars out that never get a chance to race go down the track in the .1 index class.

Back in the 80s, in Delaware we ran a road course class called Grand National that ran Super II or Afx chassis. Quadralam arms dominated, even though the rules allowed mean green arms with springs instead of brushes. They may not be a hot combo for drag racing but do have their applications.
Maybe since we used the Super II side weights, the higher torque of the Qlam gave them an advantage.

Hi Dave. Can you add me to the list for these:
2 x Inline Super Stock 1 x Inline Pro Mod 2.5 1 x Index 1.0
They'll be a couple of familiar cars from 3 years ago and a couple of new ones... if the Royal Mail and USPS get them to Tennessee in time.

Bill, the Super II set up is terrific for drag racing once modified. The 7o- 80 mph jets built by Jim Sgrirg and Alan Galinko ran extremely hot hand wound arms and brush cups in most. The Super II suffered from having a hot arm with no real down force just couldn't hook up thus a mean green and magna traction would beat it.

Welcome to the race Woodcote, good luck and nice to see you with us again. The mail is still moving so far. ECBill, SJRacer, yes I believe the Super II was mainly meant for road track racing. It surely proved it was not suitable for drag racing with all the extra weight and poor ETs. I plan on winding some hot AFX arms if I can get some gears that will hold up. I also want to wind a real hot inline arm so I can see if the commutator will stay together at 150,000 rpm.

Dave,
I believe that plastic gears held up for the AFX, Magnatractions, and Tjets with arms the 2.5 mark at the drag races in Skippack, PA. However, we did allow shunt and braid. Correct me if I'm wrong Racemaster Al.

Clive I have entered 2 cars in the index class for you, good luck. That class is filling up nicely and should be interesting. Darrly, yes at 2.5 the plastic gears will hold up. I am talking about 1.0 ohm and below armatures, real gear killers.
