I painted this one a few weeks ago, but went about it a little backwards. Painted first, then modified. The blue is DecoArt Ice Blue metallic acrylic, similar to Createx or Wicked I think, with a lacquer clear. The chassis is a Dash Blizzard with Jag DK-4 wheels and tires so I could tuck them up in the body. Original AW stance looks like an off-road recovery vehicle. Fronts down, rear ig getting there.

Now the rear is where I want it. Can't get much, if any, lower without trimming the rear deck. Glass is trimmed front and rear, and the bumpers got a coat of Molotow chrome.

Nice blue paint. Stance looks much better in last shot.

I'm working on the next Nova now. I like to have pairs of similar cars. Attachments:

This is the Henry J that I'm trying to get running right. As far as body mods go, I've just trimmed the rear post flush with the tub, and clearanced the rear wells for the AFX sized tires. I have ideas for paint color and lettering. I may see if I can raise the nose a bit for more of a gasser look.

Henry J is out of paint jail finally. It turned out OK for a basic scuff and shoot. I was torn on what to do with the decals. My choice was to print on white decal paper and have a border and background with crisper colors, or print on clear and have a little bleed through. I don't trust my printer to hit the exact same spot if I run the paper through again, especially on something this small.

Now, has anyone seen a cherry picker around here? I need to get the engine in this thing. No? Well, I guess I can use this tree branch... My oldest daughter and I worked on the decal. We both dug through pictures of Henry J gassers online and never saw one with this name. I remembered the "Keep On Truckin" guy, and downloaded some groovy hippie 60's fonts and fiddled around until we had this one. The mini version on the car had to lose the shadow behind the text. The software I was using didn't scale that very well, so it had to go. Now I just need to make this thing go. I've put some break-in time on the chassis and it's moving fast enough now that I'm not afraid it's going to fall down on the straights. Still a long way to go. I think I'm going to change the arm out, but that's for another thread.

And the finished products with Vincent wheels and even tiny license plates that match what I had on the cars back then. The Orange is a 74 GT that was my first car. The black is a 75 Cosworth Vega. The CV usually has gold wheels, but mine were bead blasted and I never got around to painting Excellent work on the Vega. Enjoyed seeing the step by step process.
