OK, the one I found has moved magnets. Why they put the traction magnets so far from the track is beyond me. I guess the chassis was originally designed for a T jet with small tires. Don't know why so many like this Jag chassis, personally I think it is a very poor design.

If memory serves me correctly Dave, didn't you have a couple of red DR-1 cars that ran well here at Bear Creek. I believe you Qualified #1 and #2. I remember them because we ran them then against all of the other chassis at that time. Jag has improved parts of their design since the first chassis were introduced but I have never understood the traction magnet part of it. It is not hard to make a couple of cuts on the chassis and the magnets are then completely adjustable up and down in the hole they are in.

Where do you get the fueled bodies? Sam/Skillet might still have a few. If not they are autoworld bodies and they sell them unpainted in a 4 pack. I have you added to the racing list.

Don't know why so many like this Jag chassis, personally I think it is a very poor design. When Jag first released the early versions of the DR1 I noticed a strong similarity to the AFX Mega G (not Mega G+) and asked Jim about it. He admitted that the DR1 is based on the Mega G design. If you place the 2 side by side you will notice a strong resemblance. Most of the parts will interchange. The traction magnet set ups are pretty much identical. The larger wheels and tires of the DR1 moves the magnets farther from the rails. The DR1 and Mega G are so similar, that I’ve considered asking if Mega G chassis could be run in the DR1 class. Perhaps I could build one for some grudge racing to test the feasibility.

It is not hard to make a couple of cuts on the chassis and the magnets are then completely adjustable up and down in the hole they are in. Your memory is better than mine. I found one of those cars which had the dropped magnets, it still runs good and will probably be a contender. I sold the other one. Not a big deal to drop the magnets. The stock magnets are so far above the track with large tires that the downforce was minimal, this kills performance. The other weak spot is the brush holders as has been previously mentioned. I had to glue mine in as they were spinning like a top which messed with the brushes. The rear armature bearing holder is another weak spot, more glue needed. Didn't say they could not be made to run with mods Jeff, but out of the box they are poor when compared to a top-notch chassis like a Tomy Super G+.

You would have to compare a super g plus to an NC-2 not a dr1...
NC-2 has smaller wheels so it hooks those are in the.6 out of the box.
If I put a .610 tire on a superg plus it probably wouldn't have great traction..
You have to compare a dr1 to the other inline chassis that take a 4 gear body, but there ain't any...
We already know they are a league of there own right now. That was the whole idea of setting them up to have their own class.
I am personally having a blast with the dr1. Mainly because our resin bodies fit.
I do agree they dropped the ball on the traction magnets. Should have been an adjustable magnet like a super lll. Only good thing they did on the super lll... I also think they should have Ron a little extra material up the chassis wall so we could put pins like a decosmo chassis to lock the bushings in place. Also rear axle retainers would be nice. If we got all that they would probably cost more to. I like we have what I call a throw away chassis in the inline market... saves me from experimenting on a 100 plus car...
You want to talk about a real waste tomy mega g plus. I got to pull the can apart to work on the arm, that sucks

Yes sir hank the 6ohm arm you need... In ss class you can run the 6ohm arm with the green and orange magnets. No idea if it helps or hurts. Have not tried those mags on a 6oh arm...
I do know the orange and green magnets will run a sub 1. arm.. I put in a .4 arm before and it ran a .375 with no tuning. Is it the best set up , probably not, but I was extremely happy with what I seen

The DR1 rules say polymer magnets, just so you know all of the DR1 motor magnets are polymer, just different strengths, basically a level 5,8 and 10, no DR1 comes with ceramic magnets so run whatever you think you can make work in SS DR1, stock DR1 calls for the stock magnets so black/white. Stronger magnets doesn't always mean faster car, especially on just 20V.
