Jeff,
Thank you very kindly for the heads up.I would try out for unlimited. But the hurdle is a bit too high for my short, newbie legs.
I would imagine that you can't go Ludicrous-Lightspeed without taking a chance at blowing stuff up. Just like 1:1. Try to break the quarter mile in under 11-seconds with your mom's 1976 station wagon and a 250hp nitrous kit... Boom! Parts everywhere. Nothing left to do but to call in the clean-up crew.
I'm curious as to what a smoked armature smells like? I'll get there in time.

No worries here Jeff, I'll be there. Doing some work on my cars before I sign up.

Jeff, I appreciate your last post but rest assured that I for one have complete trust in ALL the racemasters. I have been sending my cars over for a few years now and never had any damage to them is any way. I know that you guys treat the cars as if they were your own. Now that the aluminium top pates have arrived, I am thinking about getting one and trying to find a good armature and try to build a car for the unlimited class .

I don't think the 2.5 Inlines will have any problems with 26 volts. They will be flying however and I can see speeds into the 40+ range with ETs well into the .3s. 4G is another matter as Jeff says. If we can get some brass gears for them they should hold up fairly well with the aluminum top plate.

I would like to ask some newbie questions, please?
Jag Hobbies sells an inline TR-3/GT chassis with a 3.5 Ohm armature for $30 (for screw-on T-jet bodies). Can a newbie get started with that for unlimited inline?
Or will it go *poof* like a light bulb the moment the power comes on?
Or, will look like it's in slow motion compared to everyone else?
Thank you very kindly in advance, Ken

Thank you very kindly in advance, Ken Hey Ken I'm not sure if your question about the TR-3 pertains to my race or not, but to be clear I am not running Unlimited Inline. I do not believe the TR-3GT would be competitive in Unlimited Inline. They do seem to be well built as are the Jag DR-1 and would be a great starter chassis. Both of those have poly motor magnets but we have allowed them to run in Super Stock and maybe Comp too in the past. Most of us run the Super G+/BSRTG3/Viper Inline chassis. Those three are each a version of the same chassis.

Jeff,
Thank you for clarifying and giving direction. I meant to say Inline Comp. Oops.

The jag dr1 and tr3 have 6 ohm arms and ceramic grade polys. The gt versions of both have 3.5 ohm arms and much stronger poly magnets. The tracton magnets are stronger on the gts also.

Thank you very kindly in advance, Ken Ken, Is been a while since I studied the Jag inline cars. The TR3 may be a pretty good car but it would need to be modified to be competitive, as would any other platform. The DR1 is made for drag racing. Several guys have run them in various classes at Nitro Slots. If they offer that with a low Ohm motor and better magnets, it may be a better starting point. Its made to work with 4 Gear bodies. Chances are neither would blow up on you. They probably won't be the slowest cars out there either. Bill

I bought a jag dr1 gt last winter and put a economy viper 2.8 ohm arm in it. No other changes. It runs 6.75 at 20+ mph at 20 volts. The gt would not be legal because of the magnets. The non gt versions are only $22.00 and the viper 2.8 arm is $7.95. Proably some potential there for under 30 bucks. Braid, shunts, wheelie bars, etc and 26 volts might do wonders.

This is a good point that I kind of overlooked in my earlier post. The GT versions have much stronger poly motor magnets that would not be allowed in Comp, but the regular versions have the lesser power ceramic equivalent poly magnets which we have allowed.

Thought Ken was asking about cars for unlimited class? Comp might be a more logical next step before jumping off the deep end. He does go by “Crazy” though.😊

Everyone's normal until you get to know them. If you need proof? Just look in the mirror.
